Nicolas Eymerich: The Demon

Accessible audiogame RPG

The objective

The Demon closes the Nicolas Eymerich saga, based on the novels of Valerio Evangelisti. It had to be fully playable by blind players.

It also had to work for sighted players, who can switch to a visual mode.

The experience

Players explore eight scenarios, from the village of Calcares to the dungeons of the abbey, with an audio navigation system built on 3D sound.

Turn-based battles let them control both Eymerich and Jacinto Corona. Dialogues hide clues, and biblical puzzles test their wit.

Hand-drawn graphics support sighted play, and an endless mode extends the game beyond the story.

The results

IV Productions and Rising Pixel launched the game on Steam in March 2020, in English and Italian with full audio support.

The game runs for more than twelve hours.
