Mission: AntibiotiX · Browser-based clinical escape-room serious game

Connect prescribing guidance with the decisions clinicians make.

Mission Antibiotix helps healthcare professionals examine antibiotic treatment decisions through realistic clinical cases.

The objective

HPCi Vaud and HPCI CHUV needed antimicrobial-resistance awareness to fit everyday clinical routines.

Swissnoso and the Swiss national strategy StAR supported the project, aligned with the World Health Organization's World Antimicrobial Awareness Week.

The experience

Prescribers work through adult and pediatric cases focused on antibiotic treatment duration, receiving immediate feedback on each decision.

The browser-based clinical escape room fits e-learning, internal competitions, and continuing-education sessions within existing hospital training routines.

The results

Participants completed full missions and spent longer on the cases than in a usual training module.

Swiss hospitals and services, including CHUV, USZ, HOCH, and HFR Fribourg, adopted it for internal antimicrobial stewardship training.

One prescriber wrote in a voluntary post-play survey: “Really good and relevant cases, thanks for the organisers.”

Build the decision from the patient's case.

Gather context before choosing a treatment.

Patient rooms supply the information needed for the prescribing decision.

Professionals investigate the case before a clinical quiz tests their decision. A timed final pharmacy phase brings the case to a close.
